The ballot process

To buy a My Place house and Land package through the ballot process there are a number of steps you need to take. These steps may vary to address the specific needs of the project:

  1. Register your interest
  2. Information Session
  3. Ballot nomination
  4. Ballot draw
  5. Expo session
  6. Selection day

1. Register your interest

To stay informed about the current and future My Place releases please register your interest.

2. Information Sessions

In each location where a My Place release is planned, information sessions will be held where EDQ, developers and builders will be on hand to inform interested participants of their eligibility, discuss the My Place process and showcase indicative product available in the upcoming release.

Stay tuned for updates on venues and times in your area. This step may vary to address the specific needs of the project, for example the information session and expo session may be combined.

3. Ballot nomination

You must nominate for the ballot if you want the opportunity to buy a My Place home. To nominate for the ballot you will need to supply a signed and witnessed statutory declaration by all adult members of the household that states:

  • The intention to live in the My Place dwelling for 12-months on completion
  • Household income

Supporting documentation will also need to be supplied:

  • Registration form that indicate the names to be included on the purchase contracts
  • Finance pre-approval from a recognised lender
  • Proof of age

Criteria may varied based on the specific needs of the project, for example, some projects may require the buyers to intend to reside in the dwelling for 24-months on completion.

Once the nominations are received they will be reviewed by EDQ to determine if the nomination is completed correctly and meets the criteria.

Correctly completed nominations that meet the eligibility criteria will be advised by email that they have progressed to the ballot. Those who do not meet the criteria will also be advised by email that they will not progress to the ballot.

Nominees who do not submit complete nominations will be advised by email that they will not progress to the ballot and be given the opportunity to correctly complete their nomination by the closing date.

It is important to note that no nominations will carry over to future house and land releases. Ballot nominees must re-register for future My Place releases to ensure they continue to meet eligibility criteria.

4. Ballot draw

To determine which nominees have the opportunity to buy and the order for selection an independent draw of eligible nominations will be convened for each participating project. Nominees successful in the ballot will be notified in writing and advised details of the upcoming expo and selection day. Unsuccessful nominees will also be notified in writing and advised of future My Place releases.

5. Expo session

Buyers who have been drawn from the ballot will be invited to an expo session, where they will be able to meet with builders about the specific homes available for purchase through the My Place release. At the expo buyers will receive land and build contracts for the products they are most interested in to allow them the opportunity to seek legal advice and secure finance approval.

Expo sessions will be held in all locations where there are participating developments. This step may vary to address the specific needs of the project, for example the information session and expo session may be combined.

6. Selection day

On selection day, buyers will attend an appointment to select their My Place House and Land package and enter into a Land Contract with the developer and a Building Contract with the designated Builder. Buyers should seek legal and financial advice before your My Place Selection Day appointment.

This step may vary to address the specific needs of the project, for example selection day may run over a number of days depending on the number of pacakges available.
